In 2019, Focus on Energy revisited the structure of our home insulation and air sealing incentives to make the program more accessible for customers. As part of that change, energy assessments are no longer necessary to participate in the program and we removed the separate $50 co-pay for Tier 2 energy assessments. With that change, we are able to offer a higher incentive to the ENERGY STAR® Qualified Air Sealing project to help offset the costs of the energy assessment that is required for this type of project. If a customer receives an energy assessment and proceeds with energy improvements, the customer receives a higher incentive of $600 for Tier 1 and $900 for Tier 2 air sealing improvements. This new incentive covers the cost of the assessment (usually $200 to $400), while also providing additional funds for the work completed.
