Focus on Energy Programs are proud to offer products with the WaterSense® label. WaterSense is a partnership program sponsored by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). It helps consumers identify high-performance, water-efficient showerheads and faucet accessories that reduce the consumption of both water and water-heating energy, and also help to preserve the nation’s water resources. All products bearing the WaterSense label have been tested and certified by an approved third-party laboratory to ensure they meet EPA criteria for water efficiency and performance.
Focus on Energy installs WaterSense products through the Express Energy Efficiency, Small Business and Multifamily Energy Savings Programs. Discounts on WaterSense products are also available through the Residential Lighting and Appliance Program.
Water-Saving Showerheads
The average family could save 2,900 gallons per year by installing WaterSense labeled showerheads. Since these water savings will reduce demands on water heaters, households will also save energy. On a national scale, if every home in the United States installed WaterSense labeled showerheads, more than $2.2 billion in water utility bills and more than 260 billion gallons of water could be saved annually.
Kitchen and Bathroom Faucet Aerators
Faucet aerators are simple screw-in attachments with wire screens that mix air into the water flow, reducing the amount of water needed to get the same pressure. WaterSense labeled kitchen and bathroom sink faucets and accessories can reduce a sink's water flow by 30 percent or more without sacrificing performance. In fact, faucet aerators do not just save water; they also reduce the natural gas and electricity cost involved with water heating.
